Based on the official Snorkel MHP14AT Operation Manual, here's a complete startup and operating procedure for running the cherry picker from the basket (platform controls):

✅ MHP14AT Platform (Basket) Operation Guide

​

🔧 1. Pre-Operation Safety

  • Ensure platform is level using bubble gauge.

  • Stabilisers must be fully deployed and level before boom functions are unlocked.

  • Confirm:

    • Boom lock pin is removed.

    • All decals and placards are legible.

    • No hydraulic leaks or electrical faults.

    • Platform occupants wear a full safety harness attached to lanyard anchor points.

 

🔌 2. Starting from Platform Control Box

 

 

You must first set controls at the base:

 

At Ground Control Box:

​

  1. Set Platform/Ground Selector to PLATFORM mode (key switch).

  2. Set Boom/Stabiliser Selector to BOOM.

 

In Platform (Basket):

​

  1. Enter platform, close gravity gate, attach harness.

  2. Twist Emergency Stop Button to ON (pull out).

  3. (If cold start) Hold CHOKE while pressing START.

  4. Press START switch for max 6 seconds or until engine starts.

    • If not starting, wait 60 seconds and retry.

🕹️ 3. Operating from Platform Controls

 

To operate any function:

​

  • ENABLE SWITCH (or foot switch) must be pressed together with function switch.

 

Available Functions:

 

Function  Control Action

Lower Boom - Push LOWER BOOM switch down

Upper Boom - Push UPPER BOOM switch down

Extend Boom - TELE switch → RIGHT

Retract Boom - TELE switch → LEFT

Slew Left/Right - SLEW switch → LEFT or RIGHT

Tilt Basket - LEVEL BASKET switch → LEFT (forward), RIGHT (backward)

Platform Rotate (Option) ROTATE switch ← / →

 

Always hold ENABLE while operating any of the above switches.

 

🔄 4. Emergency Lowering from Platform

 

If normal operation fails:

  • Press ENABLE and EMERGENCY LOWER together.

  • To slew or retract boom while lowering:

    • Press:

      • ENABLE

      • EMERGENCY LOWER

      • UPPER or LOWER BOOM UP

      • SLEW or TELE IN switch

 

Must complete slewing/telescoping before booms are fully lowered.

🔚 5. Securing the Machine

  • Return booms to stowed position.

  • Insert boom lock pin.

  • Turn selector key to OFF and remove it.

  • Push Emergency Stop button in (OFF).
